Hello Dennis,
First I would like to say thank you for all of these rigging tutorials. I have watched them all and completed half of my rig, and that brings me to my Second point. Is their any quick way to mirror your rig so you don’t have to the rig the whole other side of the rig again?
Thanks again!

Just to continue what Sam was saying.I’d wouldn’t even use any of the normal channels to move scale especially rotate. This will mess up all the joints. What should be done is using the joint Orientation of each joint in the Attribute editor.
Another thing is to rather move a joint by using "Pivot mode".In a sense. this allows you to move the joint in place without having any transforms.
Anyways hope that helps anyone that is unclear about skeleton joints. D. 2011-09-29

Hi Dennis,
The tutorials are awesome! I just had a few tips to add/help explain the problem with the joint orientations on the hand. I think the orientations got screwed up because the earlier tutorial video had us moving (translating) the joints in the hand to fit the character mesh. This is very bad for aligning joints! Rotating and Scaling are okay but moving is very bad because the orientation no longer flows down the joint chain correctly.
In order to fix this problem I ended up just deleting all the hand joints, re-creating them and positioning them using only rotation and scale control, and then parenting them back into the wrist joint. I hope this makes sense.

Dennis,
First off I'd like to say thank you for the tutorials. I've been following them steadily for about a week now and I've learnt so much that to begin with, looking at I wouldn't have stood a chance of understanding.
I'd just like toask for your help with a problem I've encountered following this tutorial. When trying to bind my final rig to my model, the model distorts to both the IK and the FK joints instead of following the lone arm_base heirarchy, any ideas?
Thanks again,

Dennis,
Is there a way to add an attribute to the main hand controller to make all the fingers bend at the same time? This would be an attribute to "relax" the fingers. You could connect the controller to all the finger controllers telling them to rotate in the x axis.
Just curious,
