UV Mapping - Why Maya Sucks and What To Do
Poly-Face » Maya Tutorials » UV Mapping - Why Maya Sucks and What To Do
Description UV mapping is wounderful. Or..? not quite. So why not make it as easy as possible. I think that, but it seems that autodesk dosn't agree. The UV mapping in maya sucks. It is slow and difficult to work with.
In this video I will show how you can UV map in maya, because it is good to know.
After that I open a program called Road Kill UV, and shows the wounders it can do.
The model was made in a previous tutorial on Head Modelling

Hi, We are doing mapping next week. Our instructor says we might use RoadKill! I’ve told people in my class about PolyFace and I see more people using it in class. Again, I just can’t say too much! This is such a helpful site. D. 2012-03-19

I’m on a mac and I’m able to run Roadkill using Wine which is a free windows emulator. http://www.winehq.org/ D. 2012-02-22

A good tutorial, thanks! I just wanted to add to it really quick. Roadkill is a Windows only program, so you’ll need to use something else if you’re on a mac. I’m using Zebruv (http://www.creativecrash.com/maya/downloads/scripts-plugins/polygon/c/zebruv). It is a Maya plug-in so you don’t have to go to another program to use it. It isn’t perfect, there are a few bugs, and it sometimes crashes Maya, but it is a pretty good plug-in. Much better than UV unwrapping in Maya. D. 2012-01-30
