Concept Art - Character Design for 3D

Concept Art - Character Design for 3D

With Dennis Jensen

Description
One of the biggest problems within the CG field is that people skip the concept phase, or spent to little time on it. Simple because they don't know what to do.

In this video tutorial we look at how to make a character design for 3D. I show the method that I use when Im doing character designs. It is not only rendering a final drawing but I am actually showing you how to make decision to improve your design. I had a lot of great teachers in this field compined with my own experience. We are going to take this tutorial from sketching to being a finished drawing you can show and share your ideas with.

This video is almost 3 hours long. A few days work is compressed into this video. I don't want to waste your time so I will only be showing the best stuff.

If you're doing your concept art on the computer, using a mouse for sketching can really slow down the process and may severely limit creativity when it comes to minute details. Not all graphic tablets are expensive and they are highly recommended; there are quite a few that are aimed towards beginners and those only looking to pursue digital art as a hobby.

This video is Pay What You Want, so it is up to you how much you feel it is worth.

Testimonies

"I have found Polyface to be one of the most useful and helpful Maya resources I’ve come across. The detail of the tutorial videos go far beyond any of the pay sites out there, even down to the honest approach they have when it comes to error made, no editing which in its turn is quiet helpful "

Joe Mulligan, Animator - BBC, Cartoon Network, Channel 4, Warner Bros, Nickelodeon

"The tutorials on PolyFace are very advanced and thorough. I have had a great experience with the head tutorial especially. I feel that I can not only keep up with, but also learn more about Maya.

For me, I often need to get an idea for a storyboard character for one of the screenplays. This helps"

Christopher Hadsell, MFA program for Screenwriting
